New Toys
A few days ago I awoke to find that Dinah, our bouncing, playful kitten had once again discovered a new toy around the house. This toy, however was not a small bottle cap, paperclip, or pom pom as she usually prefers. No, this time it was a plump, green tomato hornworm that she'd carried in from the yard and was now batting around the bathroom floor. I have a bit of a soft spot for tomato hornworms and fondly remember collecting them from my grandmothers garden in old Cool Whip containers to keep as pets. I took pity on the worm, who to my surprise, was completely unharmed, and quickly returned it to our dwindling tomato plants. Dinah was quite displeased and has since moved on to eating little brown moths.

Foraging
During our Montana extravaganza we went huckleberry picking in the forests of Flathead. Though the berries are dwindling at this point in the season and we accidentally started picking what we later discovered to be a huckleberry look-a-like filled with cyanide we managed to collect enough tiny huckleberries to make a berry sauce for some sweet berry crepes. We will now commence the drooling portion of this blog post.

Friends, Dearly Missed
Zack and I just returned from a joyous trip to Montana to visit our very dear friends Claire and Jared. We experienced a lot of long hours in the car venturing across hills and plains, lakes and toxic pits. Here we are posing atop a grassy rest stop hot spot, the Newcotts and Hanlons, in what I believe may be the first photo of us all together. Well, except for our weddings. I take full responsibility for the art direction of these photos. *hangs head in shame*
Holly Doggy
Or so we call her. We recently realized that with all the animals in my parents house there are just enough for each to be named after one of snow white's seven dwarfs (yes, we're those kind of people). And, surprisingly enough, nearly all their personalities are defined by one of each names. Holly is most definitely Bashful. She is very wary of strange noises and/or any object which is pointed in her direction and, as such, she rarely ever lets me take her picture. This time she was distracted by a passerby outside my window. Doesn't she look like a painting?
